RAID Calculator
Calculate usable capacity and fault tolerance for different RAID levels.
RAID Levels Explained
- RAID 0: Striping — all drives combined, zero redundancy. Fastest reads/writes.
- RAID 1: Mirroring — half the raw capacity, survives 1 drive failure.
- RAID 5: Striping with parity — loses one drive worth of capacity, survives 1 failure. Minimum 3 drives.
- RAID 6: Double parity — loses two drives of capacity, survives 2 failures. Minimum 4 drives.
- RAID 10: Mirrored stripes — half the raw capacity, survives 1 failure per mirrored pair. Minimum 4 drives.
